Elevator Pitch | Fighting Obesity on College Campuses

Field Activity

For our field activity we decided to take an investigative journey to Brittain dining hall to research the experience of an average college student at the dining hall.  Using skills we learned in our 1011 class we decided to map the process and experience at a dining hall.  We took pictures and videos from the moment we entered the dining hall until the end of our experience.  We also interviewed other students to find out their views on the dining hall and healthy eating.  We’ve posted the photos and videos of out experience below and have created a rough diagram of the dining hall process.

For college students that eat on campus,
who are dissatisfied with unhealthy eating options,
our innovation offering is a calorie-counting tray
that totals how many calories are in the food placed on the tray.
Unlike other media containing food nutrition information
the calorie-counting tray is an in-your-face reminder of the healthiness of your meal.

This is not the correct assignment. Please look at the elevator pitch handout. For this assignment all you need to do is fill in the blank for those 6 statements. http://rand.gatech.edu/?p=22571

Good work on the elevator pitch.

But, please upload your research findings as well as your findings from your field research. I am interested to see the experience map that your team has created.

Additionally, don’t finalize your concept yet, let this remain as one idea. Continue brainstorming alternate ideas and please upload your brainstorming activities as well.

I don’t believe the video or the experience map are uploaded…I would love to see both!

take a look at the power point that I presented on Innovation: http://rand.gatech.edu/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/What-is-Innovation1.pdf. This will give your team a good idea of what type of information you want to gather and document from your research. Through the research, Capture what people do, how they behave, document other objects that are involved in the experience, document the environmental characteristics that affect the experience, document the messaging and signage that helps guide people, document the services if any that are being provided as part of the experience. Additionally document your own personal experiences, how did you feel, were you confused, stressed, where did you look for answers, ect

The more you document the more insights your group can gather which will lead better brainstorming and ideation.
