Broad Topic: Land Efficiency – Organization of Public Spaces

Our topic focuses on using public spaces in the most advantageous way possible in order for those who interact in the space to use it in the most efficient way.  More specifically we will be observing how parking lots can be better designed so that they may function more smoothly for those using them and make a positive impact on the environment.

The Problem: Parking lots pose the problem of being empty places that take up space and have no other function.

The impact of fixing the problem: By looking into making them more efficient and environmentally friendly we can look at making them more useful by allowing them to function as energy collecting sites and make them function as green spaces for the public as well as a place for them to park their vehicle.

Please explain your topic more clearly. What is the larger global theme that this project is addressing?

The larger global theme that this project is addressing is that there is a limited amount of land on our planet, and we need to learn to use it most efficiently to maximize our space. As far as sustainability impacts, using the land in the most efficient manner possible will increase sustainability by combining uses of several areas into one condensed area and thereby require the land to be self-sustaining.

Great thank you! I think this sounds like a very interesting topic area and has great potential. I will make a category label for your group: Land Efficiency
Please use this category label every time your team uploads post for this project.
